Dr Sunita Mathur is an Assistant Professor in the Accounting and Finance School at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University Dubai. She holds a PhD in Accounting, “International Financial Reporting Standards and Its Financial Consequences with UAE Ministry of Education equivalency.

With over 25 years of teaching experience in Canada and more than 15 years in the UAE, Dr Mathur has taught across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She has undertaken several leadership roles, including Program Director for Undergraduate Accounting and Finance, Dissertation Coordinator, Examination Officer, and, since September 2024, Academic Lead for the Incubator.

She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA Australia), and a graduate of the Aurora Leadership Development Programme (2025).In addition, she serves as Chief Examiner at the Emirates Institute of Finance, contributing to assessment quality, academic governance, and curriculum development.

Dr Mathur is an active researcher whose work has been published in book chapters, peer-reviewed journals, and media outlets. She regularly presents at international conferences and has received the Certificate of Excellence for Best Presentation/Best Content at the Academicsera International Conference in Rome, Italy.
