Karl Hechema is a 16-year-old student and the founder of PrépaDNB, a free, AI-powered platform that helps students prepare for the French Brevet (DNB) exam. It brings together corrected past papers, AI quizzes and flashcards, revision podcasts, and a 24/7 AI study companion, and is now used by over 8,000 students across more than 50 countries, completely free.
The idea grew from something simple: as a student, Karl spent a year helping his own classmates revise, then set out to build something that could reach thousands. He launched the platform in October 2025 and brought it to iOS and Android by January 2026.
His work has been profiled by Gulf News, and he was selected to represent his school — the Lycée Français International de l'AFLEC, Dubai — at the KHDA's Student Dialogues, where he contributed student-led proposals on the responsible use of AI in education.
