Profile

Kamran Latif Malik is an experienced educator, Head of Department, and practitioner-researcher working within the Ministry of Education, UAE. His professional experience includes secondary teaching, curriculum development, assessment design, teacher mentoring, academic coordination, school improvement, and classroom-based action research. He is passionate about improving student confidence, engagement, writing quality, and independent learning through practical and evidence-informed teaching strategies. His current action research project, “AI as a Shadow Teacher,” explores how artificial intelligence can support Grade 10 and Grade 11 students in improving their writing through rubric-aligned chatbot feedback. The project involved 146 students, including 140 Emirati students and 6 non-Emirati Arab students, and focused on using AI to provide immediate, personalised support in vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, paragraph organisation, idea development, and revision. Kamran presents AI not as a replacement for the teacher, but as a guided learning partner that works beside the student while remaining under the teacher’s planning, monitoring, and professional judgement. His GESS session will share practical classroom evidence, student voice, and strategies.
