Gareth Davies is a nationally recognised literacy leader, author and education consultant with extensive experience in English teaching, curriculum design and school improvement. A former Regional Adviser for England’s National Strategies, Gareth has worked with schools and education leaders to translate research and curriculum thinking into ambitious, effective classroom practice.

As CEO of Literacy Counts, Gareth leads the development of award-winning, evidence-informed literacy programmes used by schools in the UK and internationally. His work focuses on how foundational knowledge, carefully sequenced teaching and the development of automaticity enable children to become confident, creative and independent writers.

Gareth is particularly interested in how responsible AI can reduce teacher workload, support adaptive teaching and respond to the diverse needs of learners in international classrooms. He is passionate about ensuring that innovation strengthens teacher expertise and enhances children's learning, with pedagogy firmly at its heart.
