Mona Ghander

Mona is a development professional with more than 15 years of experience spanning across diverse international development organizations. She has experience in forging strategic partnerships to design and manage educational and economic empowerment programs focusing on skills development, employment readiness, industry engagement and entrepreneurship.

In her current role as Vice President of Partnerships and Programs at the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF), Mona oversees strategic partnerships between the Foundation and key stakeholders within the government, private sector, and higher academic institutions in the UAE. As part of the Foundation’s mission to expand its impact, Mona plays a crucial role in developing innovative programs aimed at empowering youth and equipping them with future-facing skills.

Prior to joining AGF, Mona was Program Manager at Drosos Foundation, Economist at the Office of the Minister of Trade and Industry in Egypt and a research affiliate at several institutions.

Mona Completed here BA and MA from the American University in Cairo, Egypt. She also obtained a post graduate diploma in Philanthropic Management and Development from Loyalist College in Canada.

Drawing on research and data from the Massar Al Ghurair Program of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation, the discussion will examine emerging skills identified through labor market insights, what these trends mean for higher education institutions and employers, and the key priorities for upskilling youth to prepare them for a rapidly evolving job market. The conversation will also delve into the concept of the skills economy and the growing shift toward skills-based hiring.
