Picks of the week from across the Twitter-sphere

There is a strong literacy theme running through this week’s picks. No bad thing given that everyone has a bit more time on their hands at the moment to get stuck into a few good books.

#EduBookClub

@Edubookclub1 is a brand new online Book Club for educators who love reading, to discuss ideas and share resources. The brainchild of UK educators @lamb_heart_tea and @RosannaHume, community building is at its heart, with a Whatsapp group to join and a Google Drive folder to upload for you to upload resources and book notes as well as share your CPD ideas.

On the week of the first live Twitter discussion, a GoogleDoc will be sent round for you to send in your questions and discussion points that will form the basis of the session.

You might recognise the author of the first book the @Edubookclub1 is reviewing. It’s none other than our friend Kate Jones aka @87History and her book Retrieval Practice.

The first Twitter chat will take place at 6pm UK time on 21st May, with the GoogleDoc for your questions sent out at the start of that week.

All that’s left to do now is get your hands on a copy of Kate’s book and get reading, it’s superb.

The 2020 Periodic Table of Educational Books to Read Today

@ICTEvangelist (Mark Anderson) has been preparing the second edition of his “Periodic Table of Educational Books to Read Today – 2020" for almost 2 years. It’s a labour of love for Mark who has ploughed through well over 100 books to create the table, so you know it’s going to be worth a look!

It’s a brilliant resource that is colour coded into 6 categories based on subject area, making it easy to find what’s of interest to you. Click the image below to enlarge. Enjoy!

There is a host of other free resources available on the ICT Evangelist website including other Periodic Table charts for other subject areas.
