Dr Neil Hopkin FRSA is Director of Education at Fortes Education in Dubai, overseeing Sunmarke School and Regent International School from nursery through to Year 13. A long-standing advocate for new technologies in the UK and internationally, he advised UK PM Gordon Brown on Home Access to Technology, 3 UK Secretaries of State on innovation through new technologies, and the Department for Education on curriculum review, and was a regular contributor to the Westminster Education Forum. As Executive Principal of a cluster of South London Schools and Sure Start Centres for 0-5 yr old children, he represented UK academics in Deputy PM Nick Clegg’s work on Early Years provision. A UK National Leader of Education, he has led eight schools across the UK, Singapore, Shanghai and Dubai, and spent twelve years in teacher training and professional development with the Universities of Manchester, Birmingham, Plymouth and Warwick. He served on the steering committee of the Cambridge Primary Review, the UK’s largest ever study of primary education, and holds a PhD and a Master’s in Education from King’s College London. Dr Neil now writes and speaks on AI in education, including the chapter “Between Innovation and Obligation” for a forthcoming (2027) CRC Press volume on AI ethics.
