Moving From Learning to Use AI to Using AI for Learning

Session Summary:

This session explores the transformative potential of AI in education. It begins by distinguishing between basic AI functionalities, such as scheduling and routine data tasks, and its advanced capabilities in personalising learning experiences. The session highlights how AI can identify knowledge gaps, provide customised feedback, and support real-time performance analysis, fostering deeper student engagement. Leveraging Bloom's Taxonomy, participants will discover how AI can facilitate progression from foundational knowledge to innovative creation and evaluation. The session also addresses the critical importance of assessing AI usage, ensuring it serves as a tool to enhance learning rather than a substitute for critical thinking. Through rubrics, self-reflection, and targeted feedback, the session provides strategies to optimise AI's integration into teaching, enabling educators and students alike to use AI to support their AI literacy skills and use critical thinking skills.
