A Musician, Educator, Author, Composer, Ethnomusicologist and Teacher Trainer. Andy has over forty years experience as a professional Musician and Educationalist.

As a musician, Andy has played with some of the leading Recording Artists and Orchestras in the world for Film, Television, and Recording Sessions as well as many of London's West End Shows.

Andy Gleadhill is internationally acknowledged as a leading authority on teaching World Music. He has twelve books published on World Music themes. Andy wrote the chapter on Music for the academic book Popular Culture, Pedagogy and Teacher Education (Routledge 2014). His new book has been nominated for the Outstanding Music Education Publication at the Music and Drama Expo 2024.

Andy has worked at every level of music education from Early Years settings to Post Graduate teaching at Conservatoires and Universities. For over twenty years he has taught at Bath Spa University U.K, where he teaches on the specialist music PGCE courses. He holds a PGCert, DipST, CertMT and DipMus. He is a member of the Royal Society of Musicians U.K. He has been engaged as a consultant to the ministries of Education of Malaysia, Singapore and the U.K. and is a Professor of Music at the Malaysian Music Teachers Training College.

Andy was for many years the head of Bristol Arts and Music Service U.K. and has worked as an examiner for the Guildhall school of Music and Drama and Trinity College London.

Rhythm Explorers

Session Summary:

Rhythm explorers is an exciting new way to teach the basic elements of music through discovering rhythms from different cultures around the world. Young people explore a wide range of musical percussion instruments, learning about the key elements of music and discovering music’s DNA. Suitable for a wide range of young learners including early years, SEND and beyond. In this practical hands-on session delegates will learn to play and compose music, encouraging creativity and promoting a sense of wellbeing.
