Managing Partner - YSG Consulting
I’m Edwin Humpel, Managing Partner at YSG Consulting, where I lead our work in AI strategy and innovation. I help organizations use artificial intelligence to solve real problems, improve efficiency, and stay ahead in a fast-changing world. My focus is on building practical systems that actually work, whether that means automating processes, deploying large language models, or advising leadership on the responsible use of AI.
I have a background in business management and a deep interest in how technology can be used to make people’s lives easier. I’m not interested in hype or buzzwords, I care about outcomes and clarity. I’ve worked closely with schools and early-stage startups, helping them design and implement AI systems that deliver real value and lay the foundation for future growth.
At YSG, I combine strategic thinking with hands-on technical insight. I lead projects from concept to execution and make sure every solution we build is scalable, ethical, and aligned with what our clients truly need. I believe in human-centered AI and I work every day to make sure the systems we build serve the people who use them.

Beyond the Buzz: How AI Can Actually Help Schools
Session Summary:
As someone working directly with schools and early-stage companies, I’ve seen how artificial intelligence can actually reduce teacher workload, streamline admin tasks, and improve the quality of learning when applied thoughtfully. This talk will explore the practical side of AI in education, what’s working on the ground, what challenges schools are facing when adopting AI, and how we can move past the hype to create tools that genuinely support teachers and students. I’ll be sharing real examples from my work and joining others to discuss how we can implement AI responsibly, affordably, and in a way that keeps the human element at the core of education.
