Bella Rai
Student and Sustainability Ambassador - Jebel Ali School, Dubai
My name is Bella. I am a Grade 8 student leader at Jebel Ali School, Dubai. As a Student Council representative and the Global Ambassador for The Alliance for Sustainable Schools and am proud to represent my school on sustainability issues that matter to all of us.
My love for the environment comes from both books and lived experiences. I've traveled to 25 countries (and counting!) which has given me the chance to see how different cultures connect with nature. One of my favourite memories was working alongside marine biologists in the Maldives to help conserve coral reefs and protect sea turtles; a memory that still inspires me every time I dive into the ocean.
When I'm not learning or traveling, you'll find me swimming, singing or writing. I love spending time with my little sister. The ocean is my happy place but I also love the buzz of putting ideas into words and sharing them with others. That's why I started my own podcast on Spotify, The Greenius, a talk designed to make sustainability fun and inspiring for kids like me.
I'm proud to be part of a generation that's curious, creative and determined to shape a greener future. Whether through school projects, my podcast or simply asking the right questions, I believe even small changes can create waves of change. Catch you on the green side!

Curious Minds, Greener Futures
Session Summary:
At this year's conference, something a little different is happening; instead of a panel of adults, a young Grade 8 sustainability ambassador, Bella Rai joins sustainability leader, Alan Smith for an open, honest and often surprising dialogue about the planet's future.
The conversation will wander through big and small ideas - from the coolest examples of sustainability education happening around the world, to the magic of reconnecting with nature to how the UAE is leading the way in green learning.
Expect questions that cut straight to what kids and teens actually wonder - about schools, families, technology and what world might look like in 2050. This is a light, engaging exchange between two generations that proves sustainability isn't just a grown-up topic. It's something everyone can be curious about and act on - no matter their age.
