Wellbeing for the Whole School: A Leadership Imperative, Not a Luxury
Session Summary:
In a post-pandemic world marked by rising anxiety, disengagement, and educator burnout, wellbeing can no longer be treated as a side initiative. It must be embedded at the core of school culture and leadership. This session explores how to build a “whole school” approach to wellbeing—where staff, students, parents, and policies align to create safe, inclusive, and thriving environments.
Drawing from my leadership at an inclusive K–12 school in Abu Dhabi, I would like to share real-world strategies informed by the PERMA wellbeing model, SDG 4.7, and trauma-informed leadership. A key pillar of this approach includes the integration of Heartfulness practices—daily moments of stillness, reflection, and guided relaxation to foster inner calm and emotional resilience in both students and educators.
The session will explore how Heartfulness is used not just as a mindfulness tool, but as a school-wide wellbeing culture driver, supporting student focus, teacher morale, and compassionate leadership. Attendees will leave with frameworks to assess their school’s wellbeing culture and lead sustainable transformation—rooted in both evidence and empathy. Wellbeing isn’t a trend. It’s the foundation of resilient, high-performing schools.
