Vanessa North has over twenty years' experience in Education. With a degree in Computer Science, her teaching & training experience encompasses all age ranges – Primary, Secondary, Higher and Adult Education in co-educational and multicultural environments covering fundamental ICT skills to Advanced Level Computer Science. She thrives on using and pushing the boundaries of the latest technology and has been fortunate to work at some of the top independent schools & blue-chip companies in the UK, Australia and UAE which have provided these opportunities for her. She is a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and a four times TEDxJESS curator. She was awarded a scholarship to attend TEDWomen 2016 and in the true spirit of TED, loves to hear about ideas worth spreading - particularly if they involve technology! She is also passionate about ensuring women play a key role in shaping the future of technology in Education.

In 2015 the UK Government took the bold decision to scrap ICT in favour of the more 'rigorous' Computer Science meaning June 2018 saw the last examination of GCSE ICT. As a result, schools have been frantically changing and updating their curriculum content to ensure coding features high on the list of skills taught at KS3 and lower. However, is this the right decision for our younger generation. This talk will showcase the bespoke Digital Skills curriculum developed at JESS which works alongside Computer Science to ensure students are #FutureReady.
