Senior HR Director, Wellington College China

Rowan is a globally experienced HR Director, who has worked in the UK, Middle East and China. In her current role as Group Senior HR Director with Wellington College China she drives the HR strategy, with a particular focus on people development, and also plays a key role in overseas International business development for the Group. Under her leadership Wellington have been awarded the HR Asia Award as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Asia, the only school group to hold this title. Her previous experience includes Talent and HR Operations roles in several school groups, including involvement in large school openings in the UAE, China and beyond. Rowan holds a BA (Hons) from the UK and is a Chartered Member of CIPD, the UK HR professional body. She is a full HR Generalist with extensive leadership experience and has a particular interest and passion for developing talent and future leaders in the education sector.

This session will explore Rowan's experience with implementing Talent Strategies usually seen in the Corporate World in schools and the impact this can have on staff retention, development and engagement - as well as employer branding and talent acquisition. These initiatives were pivotal in Wellington College China being awarded the HR Asia Award as one of the best Companies to Work for in China. This session will cover strategies such as Coaching/Mentoring, High Potential Leadership Programmes and structured Learning & Development approaches as well as the significant opportunities (and challenges!) of implementing them in schools.
