Prof. Hussein Elmehidi

Dean of Academic Support Services

Hussein M Elmehdi is the current Dean of Academic Support Services and Associate Professor of Biomedical Physics at the Department of Applied Physics and Astronomy, University of Sharjah. He obtained his PhD in 2001 from the University of Manitoba, Canada in Biomedical Physics. He joined the University of Sharjah (UOS)in Feb 2005 as a Biomedical Physicist. Dr. Elmehdi is very active in several research areas covering health & environmental physics, biomedical applications of ultrasound, environmental acoustics, and physics education. Dr. Elmehdi is participating several well-funded international, national and local research projects. Dr. Elmehdi has over 40-refereedpublications in high impact factor journals, well-known international conferences and book chapters as well as two registered patents. Dr. Elmehdi is the coordinator of Ionizing Radiation Research Group at the Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE). Dr. Elmehdi has received several excellence awards and recognition in research, teaching and community services. Among these awards are the prestigious UOS Excellence Award in Research (2014); UOS Excellence Award in Teaching (2015, 2012); UOS Excellence Award in Community Services (2011)

In this presentation, I will highlight our experience with online exams. While online exams see to save institutions a lot of time and effort, additional factors need to be considered. These include meeting the objectives of the assessment, especially in achieving the prescribed course outcomes. The presentation will also include statistics of the satisfaction of students with online exams and their effect on their academic performances.
