Press Release: Leaders in Education Summit Takes Place in Nigeria – Delegate Numbers Exceed Expectations

More than 500 delegates attended the event which was held under the theme of "Achieving Globalisation for Nigerian Schools: Transitioning to Global Schools in the 21st Century." The event is the latest launch from the GESS Global brand which is now entering its 13th year.

The GESS Leaders in Education Summit held in Lagos, the recently held event in Nigeria wrapped after two fantastic days. 

More than 500 delegates attended the event which was held under the theme of "Achieving Globalisation for Nigerian Schools: Transitioning to Global Schools in the 21st Century." The event is the latest launch from the GESS Global brand which is now entering its 13th year.

Tarsus are the organisers of the renowned Global Education Supplies & Solutions Exhibition (GESS) in Dubai, Indonesia, Turkey and this event was the brand’s second in East Africa after the successful summit in Kenya in 2018. The event had the full support of the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education and Folasade Adefisayo, The Hon. Commissioner for Education in Lagos State, Nigeria opened and visited the event.

The GESS Leaders in Education Summit Nigeria was supported by key official bodies and associations from the educational industry including; The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Association of International School Educators of Nigeria (AISEN), World Organisation for Early Childhood Education (OMEP).

“The Leaders in Education Summit Nigeria was impactful and dynamic. It brought together a huge diversity of educators from all over Nigeria to meet with passionate, disruptive and collaborative international speakers. Nigeria needs to bridge a technology gap in education and the summit did not only highlight this; solutions were also proffered. Nigerian educators are already looking forward to the 2020 event,” said Abiola Lamikanra Executive Chairperson Association of International School Educators of Nigeria AISEN.

Over 500 school leaders attended the event, which featured targeted conference sessions aimed at leaders within the education sector not only in Nigeria, but East Africa as a whole. Looking at key training needs and the challenges that leaders of schools and educational institutions face, the qualities shared by all good leaders and the skills to advance in senior positions. The collaborative and innovative sessions allowed attendees to take home practical teaching methods, to use in the classroom immediately.
