University of Dubai celebrates global recognition on becoming first in Middle East to offer ILM Levels 5 and 7 certifications
Dubai, Aug 31, 2014: University of Dubai celebrated yesterday the awarding of the British Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 and Level 7 programs to the university, making it the first university in the Middle East to offer these certifications to its graduates of the Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, and Master's degree in Human Resources Management and Leadership.
The ceremony, organized at the Dubai Chamber, was attended by Essa Al Zaabi, Senior Vice President for Institutional Support Sector at Dubai Chamber, and Professor Rao Onant, Head of Academic Affairs at University of Dubai , and a number of professors from the Faculty of Business Administration. Julie Cape, Director of Quality at the ILM in the Middle East, was also present on the occasion.
During the ceremony, the University of Dubai received the Certificate of Accreditation from the ILM, as a delegation from the ILM briefed the details and the criteria for the Institute's programs for the two levels. They also outlined the stages to be adopted for the granting of such certificates, and their benefits to the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Issa Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai , said the certificates programs of ILM for Levels 5 and 7 represent a quantum leap in the level of the programs offered by the university. Describing the programs as an international recognition for the university, Dr. Bastaki said the new programs will lead to an increase in the turnout of students at the University of Dubai .
He explained that the most important characteristics of Levels 5 and 7 programs is that the students enrolled in the Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management and Master's degree in Human Resources Management and Leadership are automatically entitled for the certifications. The students in the Bachelor's degree receive the Level 5 certification while those in the Master's degree receive the Level 7 certification.
Julie Cape said the University of Dubai has succeeded in providing high quality academic programs that match international standards, and in turn is consistent with the standards of the ILM Institute. She added that certification Levels 5 and 7 not only enhance the knowledge level of the students but also improve their prospects in the job market and enable them to become effective and influential people in their work environment. She pointed out that the ILM Institute provides support for the University of Certification Programs through its regional office in Dubai.
