UAE Education Ministry signs partnership agreement with S.Korean counterpart

WAM DUBAI, 25th September 2013 (WAM) -- The UAE Minister of Education, Humaid bin Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, and the South Korean Minister of Education, Seo Nam-soo, have signed an agreement to enhance the exchange of expertise and visits of specialists and officials between the two countrie

The signing of the agreement took place last Monday during Minister Al Qattami's recent visit to South Korea.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening educational relations between the UAE and South Korea, opening up new avenues for cooperation on smart learning methods, e-schools, curricula development, assessment, examinations, research and study, vocational development of human resources as well as licensing of education professions.

In his remarks following the signing ceremony, Humaid bin Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami said, "Opening up to the experiences of advanced nations in the development of education is an essential part of the Ministry's policy which lays emphasis on keeping pace with modern science, technologies and tools for the development of thinking skills, as well as on linking public schools with internationally successful and recognises schools." "The ministry's ceiling of expectations has become higher as the UAE is experiencing progress and prosperity under the aegis of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Their Highnesses, the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates." He further affirmed the ministry's great interest in providing a unique model in education in the region, and raising the level of output and efficiency of the educational system in general. The strategic goals of education in the UAE match those of advanced nations, including South Korea.

"Based on this, the ministry was interested in enhancing educational relations with South Korea so as to expand the scope of benefits, the exchange of expertise and experiences, and common visions, as well as to outline an agenda and common feasible programmes that are in line with the UAE's approaches and general principles," Minister Al Qattami added.
