Dubai Ruler orders scholarships be awarded to outstanding Emirati pupils

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid orders launch of the third Mohammed bin Rashid Distinguished Students Programme.

More than a hundred outstanding Emirati pupils in Dubai will receive scholarships by order of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

On Tuesday, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai directed the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the emirate’s private school regulator, to launch the third Mohammed bin Rashid Distinguished Students Programme.

To join the programme, the pupil must be enrolled in year three or above, must be an Emirati living in Dubai and will need to pass written tests and oral interviews organised by the school. The pupil must also be registered in a school for the current academic year.

A screening committee evaluates each application on the basis of the set criteria.

“The scholarship programme provides a stepping stone to better opportunities in life,” said Fatma Al Marri, chief executive for Development of Emirati Student Education Programmes at KHDA. “Our Emirati students thrive and flourish in environments that enable them to widen their horizons. Together with strategic partnerships, we want to make every effort to provide the best quality education for young learners in Dubai.”

Ms Al Marri called on parents to use the scholarships and enrol their children in schools rated ‘good’ or better by KHDA.
