Picks of the week from across the Twitter-sphere

'Picks of the week' brings you our favourite educational discovers from the gold-mine that is Twitter.

@TeacherToolkit is a fantastic resource for educators of all levels, winning countless educational blog awards. We loved this blog post we found on #edchatMENA featuring 42 back to school ideas to get you on the right track for the new term. Check out the website for books, resources, podcasts and more.

It’s always tough picking which of the various posts @87History's  to feature, but we thought this was a real winner. Kate’s school is still teaching remotely, but that hasn’t stopped her encouraging her students to take a break from their screens with some handwritten tasks that can be easily scanned and uploaded for later digital or verbal feedback.

Former GESS Dubai speaker @EvoHannan has launched #GlobalStaffroomSunday to connect educators to what’s happening in the coming week across #EduTwitter. It’s a great way to check in with people you know, extend your network with some new likeminded faces and just a great extension of the #EduTwitter community.

We welcomed #InterntationalLiteracyDay this week and enjoyed all the brilliant book suggestions and work being done to get children reading. This “BookFlix” area of @owlsometeaching’s classroom is a great idea to get students sharing the books they’ve loved throughout the year. Do you do anything similar in your classrooms?

The start of any new term is a stressful time for educators at the best of times, but with the extra concerns surrounding surrounding the start of the 2020/2021 year we wanted to echo the sentiments of @MissDWoodx on #EduTwitter this week. Keep up the brilliant work whether you’re still teaching remotely, or back in bubbled classrooms, your efforts do not go unnoticed at GESS HQ.
