17 November 2022 | 13:50 - 14:10 | English | Why Aren't We Teaching Kids How to Thrive in the Creator Economy? Transforming Content Consumers into Curious Creators

Before social media started in the early 2000s, the job of a content creator was unheard of. But today, it is highly in-demand thanks to the massive migration of communication and entertainment, even school and work to the digital plane. We are indeed seeing the advent of the content economy or the creator economy. It is defined as the production, distribution, exchange, and consumption of digital content products and services. The Global Digital Content Creation Market size was estimated to be US$ 11 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach US$ 38.2 billion by 2030. This brings us to an important question; how do we turn our content-consuming kids into content creators? My talk will explore ways to innovate teaching and learning to focus on a broad range of creative skill-building pathways to train children and the youth to thrive in the world of creators. They say, CONTENT IS KING, but we must empower our kids to rule over it!
