Ian Plant is the Associate Principal at GEMS Founders School, Dubai. He’s been involved in the education sector for 19 years and has experience working in schools in England, the United States of America and the UAE. He obtained his BSc. Physical and Health Education degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point (UWSP), USA in 2004 and soon after relocated to Bingley, West Yorkshire to teach at Beckfoot School. During his time at Beckfoot he taught Physical Education and was responsible for the quality of teaching and learning through his Lead Practitioner role. He then began his MEd. (Curriculum and Leadership focus) as well as teaching undergraduate Physical Education courses at UWSP. In 2010 he moved to Dubai and has worked in two international schools in leadership roles. In 2015 Ian completed his MEd. degree from Murdoch University and in February 2021 was awarded a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). Ian has a distinct passion for sport and accomplished his dream of playing professional football for Hull City in 1993. He loves to exercise, specifically running and cycling, as well as playing golf and tennis in his free time. His wife, Jessie, is from Belgium and currently works as a Physical Education teacher in Dubai.
