SPEAKER SESSIONS

Skills Development Training

15 November 2022 | 10:30 - 12:00 | English | Can You Program A Humanoid Robot? Yes You Can!

You won’t believe what YOU can do! Ever wondered how robots operate, or if you could program your own robot? In this fun & exciting hands-on session, 9 humanoid robots & laptops will be part of the portable robotics lab setup where participants will then learn to program their own Humanoid EZ-Robot to; wave, talk, respond to their voice, & even recognize them and greet them by name. You do not need to know to code, or understand digital language or robotics to program your own robot. Our software is so user-friendly that anybody with little to no knowledge of the above can partake in this workshop. We will be sharing some of the strategies that we use to engage 90% of middle school students & up to 45% of high school students. After delivering these workshops numerous times internationally, literally 100% of participants shared that they would recommend it to their friends & colleagues. We’ll regularly receive comments like, “Best Professional Development day ever!”

16 November 2022 | 13:30 - 13:50 | English | Steps to increase girl’s enrolment in robotics & STEM education

Although women are making great strides in tech globally, specifically in robotics, it has long been a challenge for educators to inspire girls to participate despite performing very well in robotics & coding programs. At the high school level, across NA the average number of girls enrolled in robotics programs or clubs is below 1%, a worrying number given how prevalent robotics & A.I. are becoming in the workplace. Both boys and girls engaged in STEM education at an early age provides them with a significant advantage in their schooling & creates a great foundation for their robotics career. This workshop will share effective steps to help you increase girls engagement in robotics & computer science programs. We've seen how high schools have increased girl enrollment from less than 1% to 25% - 45%. For every school that has 1000 girls, its probable that less than 10 are enrolled in robotics programs or clubs. These steps can help you increase girl enrollment to 250 - 450.
