Christopher Tompkins is the Executive Director for Early Childhood through Grade 12 Education for the NEOM project in Saudi Arabia. He hired the founding team and opened NEOM’s first school in September of 2021, with a second school opening in 2022. Before NEOM, he was Head of School at various boarding and day schools in the United States. He implemented global programs and partnerships from Saudi Arabia to Rwanda, South Africa, and China. Tompkins taught IB History at Academic Cotopaxi in Ecuador and has served on the Board of Trustees for the Cloud Forest School Foundation in Costa Rica for 20 years. In addition to serving as trustee and Chair of the Board of the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS), he has served on boards including NAIS SSS, The Montgomery School, Chambersburg Montessori School, and AISAP as a founder. Tompkins, a regular conference presenter, has authored articles in the Head’s and Trustee’s Letters and in the NAIS Magazine. He also wrote the Forward to “Behind the Walls: Life in Boarding School” and “The Croton Dams and Aqueduct.” With a lifelong commitment to teaching and learning, his career includes IB and AP, enrollment, advancement, college counseling, and all-school leadership. Tompkins brings extensive experience with schools, boards, and various cultures to his work serving students, faculty, and families. Christopher is husband to Kate, also an educator, and father of three independent school graduates.
