Born in the U.K, Adam is currently the Head of Music at Sharjah English School, where his passion for musical education has encouraged a record number of pupils to be involved in musical activities across the school. Adam has spent the last two decades in the U.K, working with schools, orchestras, bands and local authorities and is ideally placed to comment upon the role music has in todays schools climate. In the UK, Adam was the Head of Performing Arts at Norton College, resident musical director at the Grand Opera House, York, and conductor of the York Area Schools Concert Band. He is the founding member of York's only saxophone choir, and as a saxophonist has performed with jazz ensembles such as Bluephunk, The Michael Monument Quartet, The JJ Wheeler Trio, and the Billy Marrows Ensemble.

A presentation on some key aspects of music education including some performances from pupils at Sharjah English School. Head of Music , Adam Laird, will talk about the role performance has in establishing a thriving music department, and will introduce performers showcasing the wide variety of talented pupils at his school. Adam will talk about the role of networking events, such as GESS, collaboration between schools, and how performing opportunities help empower young people to increase their potential.
