Jon Locke

Having spent most of his career working in maintained schools in the UK, Jon made the change to an International private school, joining The British School of Barcelona as Executive Principal in September 2018. During his 5 years at BSB, he took the school community through a process of change and development, unifying three distinct campuses developing a common vision and core values. This was recognised in their outstanding BSO inspection report. Jon then moved to Dubai in 2023 as Principal of North London Collegiate School, one of the region’s top IB World schools. Under Jon’s leadership NLCS Dubai has continued to grow and develop, now with more than 1900 on roll and sixth form students leaving to study in some of the most prestigious universities in the World.

As part of the senior leadership team in 5 very different schools, Jon has significant experience of leading and implementing change. His previous school was one of the first Teaching schools in the UK and he acted as an NLE supporting colleagues in Hertfordshire and creating leadership development programmes. Jon’s leadership style is focused on enabling staff to innovate and work collaboratively, making learning far more powerful. He believes in the importance of empathy and positivity in leadership and is always happy for others to take the lead.

Outside school, Jon loves sports, having travelled the world as a rugby player representing England at various levels and Saracens 1st XV.
