Scholarship deal signed for Emirati undergrads

Fujairah: Firoz Merchant, founder of the Pure Gold Welfare Club, has signed an agreement with the University of Fujairah to provide scholarships to five needy Emirati female undergraduate students scoring 85 per cent and above each semester.

The scholarship amount for each semester will be decided based on the number of courses registered by each individual student and the amount of tuition fees applicable in the semester.

The agreement was signed between Saeed Bin Mohammad Al Raqabani, chair of the board of trustees of the University of Fujairah and Merchant, who is founder and chairman of Pure Gold Group. The scholarship programme is a fulfilment of the agreement made between Merchant and Al Raqabani last year.
The announcement was part of the Dh700,000 pledge to support Emirati female students who come from rural areas and cannot afford the fees for completing their four-year bachelors programme.
