Ministry names licensed educational institutions in UAE

DUBAI: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has issued a list of the 71 licensed higher educational institutions in the UAE, warning students not to enroll in the non-accredited institutions in order to guarantee their interest and safety of the programmes that they study.

This was revealed by Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Mualla, Deputy Minister of Education for Academic Affairs of Higher Education. Only certificates issued by these institutions are accredited by the Ministry of Education, he added.  

The Academic Accreditation Commission in the Ministry takes over the responsibility of licensing institutions and evaluation of the programmes periodically to ensure the compatibility of the educational programs offered in those institutions with the international standards, he added.

The student’s admission to an accredited academic programme ensures that the certificate is certified by the Ministry after graduation. It is a basic requirement for the federal institutions and most local employers to work for them, Al-Mualla said.

He stressed the importance of students wishing to enrol in institutions of higher education within the country to verify that the institution is licensed by the Ministry, and so is the discipline, to ensure that their certificates will be accredited after graduation.

He warned that officials of some branches of the higher education institutions, which have a branch in the country and are not licensed from the Ministry, who affirm that their certificates can be accredited by the Ministry. This is very common on social media, stressing that the certificates of these institutions are not recognized within the country, he added.

He warned against the phenomenon of buying certificates through the Internet, stressing that these certificates are fake, and will not be accredited or equivalent or will be valid.
