Adek unveils AD’s initiatives for 2018 UAE Innovation Month

ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, Adek, has unveiled Abu Dhabi’s initiatives and activities to mark the 2018 UAE Innovation Month, including Innovator 2018 and the Abu Dhabi Science Festival. Set to launch on Feb 1 for a period of seven days, a number of governmental entities, academic organisations, private sectors and innovators are gearing up for their participation in the event.

Dr Ali Al Nuaimi, Adek’s Chairman, inaugurated the UAE Innovations 2018 - Abu Dhabi Press Conference in the presence of senior delegates, government officials and various media representatives in the country.

Dr Al Nuaimi, Adek’s Chairman, said that the UAE’s inspirational and motivational leadership has always encouraged innovation and excellence across all fields, highlighting the vision and directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to extending the UAE Innovation Week to the UAE Innovation Month as a testament to the efforts of attracting the best innovators and innovations on a national level.

Adek’S Chairman thanked the various governmental entities in their role and participation in presenting initiatives and programmes that enhance creativity and talent, while increasing innovative projects that adhere to the UAE’s Innovative Strategy which positions the nation as amongst the best countries in the world in the field of innovation, while achieving the UAE’s 2021 vision.

Huda Al Hashmi, Assistant to the Director-General for Strategy and Innovation at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs &The Future, said, “The UAE Innovation Month this year is Inspired by the noble values of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, our role model and a source of inspiration, as we celebrate innovation and innovators in all fields.

“The UAE Innovation month will focus on four aspects inspired from our founding father, including the innovative leader, the creative thinker, the change maker and the inspirational thinker,” said Al Hashmi, adding that the UAE Innovation Month embodies the highest level of collaboration between federal and local government, private sector leaders and community members, all working towards achieving one goal; spreading a culture of innovation and embedding it into the fabric of businesses and lifestyle. Al Hashmi praised the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and ADEK for coordinating the activities of the UAE Innovation Month in the Emirate.
