In Conversation with… Philip Tsvetkov, Partner/ General manager, Moonkids
This month we speak with Philip about how classroom interiors is critical to enhancing the learning environment, he also tells us about what visitors will be able to see at the Moonkids stand at GESS Dubai 2018
Please tell us more about Moon kids and what are the different products and services that you offer?
Moon Kids offers Full Turn Key services ranging from interior design, interior fit out, to furniture and play equipment manufacturing. We are a “THE ONE STOP SHOP” for the education industry, and the best thing about us is we make everything ourselves in the UAE, our factory is based in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi.
How long have you been operating in the UAE?
Since 2011
What are the latest exciting projects that you’ve been working on?
We have recently completed 3 playgrounds for Le Meridien Hotel Beach Resort and Spa in JBR, these included 2 playgrounds with a very big adventure Castle Climbing Play frame, a Giant Wooden Play Ship, some very cool play ground flooring design and a Cities Of The World crazy gold course. Also in Jumeriah we Finished the Interior fit out for the first “We Rock The Spectrum Kids Gym Dubai” which is full of zip lines, trampolines, climbing walls, party rooms, softplay area and many other great things for kids to enjoy!
What is your secret to staying innovative?
Because we have our own manufacturing capabilities we design and make new innovative products every month, we understand what our clients need and we always work to go beyond in giving them what they want.
A lot has been said about the learning environments in schools and nurseries and how these can enable students to learn better. What are your thoughts on this?
I Totally agree and have personally been told by several of our clients who we did work for in schools such as JESS and DESS that the look and feel of our classroom designs and furniture have had a very positive effect on calming and streamlining the way classes are are taught, the kids are much calmer, interested and work better together in groups.
What are some of your key findings from being in the industry that you would like to highlight?
From my personal experience I have found that there is allot of misunderstanding in terms of what the end users need compared to what they are given, for example there are so many nurseries in the UAE that have been specified play equipment which is for much older children, making it dangerous, unusable and therefore a total waste of money. I prefer to get the end users like teachers involved directly when putting together a proposal, that way we clearly understand what their needs are and we match them with functional equipment, suitable to the age group, guaranteeing to add value to their facilities.
How do you design the projects for your clients?
Step 1 is to understand the theme, activities and the outcome that they are looking for
Step 2 is space planning
Step 3 is beautification
Step 4 bring it to life
As I mentioned earlier, we make everything in our projects ourselves, all in-house with our team of highly skilled craftsmen and women, so the possibilities of what we can design and then make are endless!
What can our visitors expect to see at your stand at GESS next year?
We will be showing off products from our new furniture range, outdoor play equipment and our most recent designs and completed projects.

I find GESS Dubai to be a great place to meet people in our target market, to learn more about the competition and see what new things are out there so we can stay ahead of the game. It’s a great networking event.
What would you like to say to some of our lovely readers and visitors?
