GESS Dubai celebrates 10-year anniversary with key partners

The education landscape of the Middle East has experienced significant growth over the past ten years. Crucial to the development of what is now an immersive, progressive and fast evolving sector has been the staging of GESS Dubai, a massive education exhibition and conference, which has called Dubai home for the past ten years.

GESS Dubai continues to serve as a key platform for connecting education suppliers with administrators, teachers, education experts and other key personnel within government ministries, and education from across the globe.

Check out the pavilions

The Middle East education sector has a multiplicity of schools with varying curricula. From American to British, Australian to Indian, German to Japanese and more – you can find a curriculum to suit the diverse cultural background of the people who live and work in the region.

The need for education products and resources to compliment the diverse number of schools is adequately matched via the various pavilions, which feature a host of companies exhibiting at GESS Dubai.

Attendees will have an extensive range of companies that they can check out for key education resources and supplies. This year’s event will feature over 550 exhibitors from over 39 different countries with pavilions from the UK, China, Germany, Korea, Finland and the USA.

Of note, the event boasts long-standing relationships with a number of global education companies that have been exhibiting at the event since its inception or joined shortly after.

Ten years strong

Joining GESS Dubai for its 10th-anniversary event are founding partners British Education Suppliers Association (BESA), Edutech and Al Mazroui Medical & Chemical Supplies, plus a host of new and returning companies.

10 years ago, BESA and F&E formed a strategic alliance to launch the exciting new education exhibition - GESS. The first event was launched at the Medina Complex, but soon outgrew this location. After a stint at the Airport Expo, the event found its home at the state owned World Trade Center in Dubai.

William Preito-Parra, International Manager at BESA shared, “For the last 10 years GESS has provided a platform to suppliers, teachers and local educational traders to network, discuss education practices and see the latest educational products available from around the world. The BESA and F&E alliance has made GESS the premier focussed, professional event of its kind in the region. We are confident that the education supplies industry has and will continue to benefit enormously from this show.”

According to William, the GESS event has grown both in terms of the number of exhibitors (with British, German, Korean, Chinese and USA Pavilions among others), and visitors (which for 2017 is expected to exceed 12,000).  Alongside this impressive set of stats, the GESS organisers, in close liaison with the UAE Ministry of Education, arrange and facilitate a packed conference agenda of high-quality educational seminars, which run alongside the exhibition.

Of note, GESS is run with the fantastic support of the UAE Ministry of Education, and over the years, other Gulf countries MoEs added their endorsement and support to the event.

Edutech has always been a strong supporter of the event. They are a leading provider of learning solutions and services for K-12 schools, Higher and Vocational Educational institutions and government.

“As a pioneer, Edutech evangelised the use of technology in education and was encouraged by the fact that UAE embraced the adoption of technology to transform education in the country. Edutech realised early on a need for an exposition like GESS and welcomed the opportunity to be a founding sponsor. We felt that an event like GESS would serve as a catalyst to further the cause of education in the country, as it would serve as a platform for all stakeholders to come together and exchange ideas, best practices and experience new and innovative technologies, products and services that would shape education in the future,” stated Mr ASF Karim, Founder and Managing Director.

Appropriately dubbed as The Learning Specialists, Edutech will showcase state-of-the-art solutions that will help K-12 institutions in their pursuit to offer better STEM education to students and Higher and Vocational Educational Institutions in their initiative to prepare their students better to face the challenges of a fast-changing industrial environment driven by Industry 4.0 at GESS.

Al Mazroui Medical & Chemical Supplies (AMMCS Education Services) has been supplying modern education equipment and products for the past 30 years. Their stand is usually buzzing with key demonstrations on how best to use their computerised education products, which are compatible with a variety of education teaching methods. Their efficient service engineers and technicians will be on hand, as usual, to provide assistance.

“GESS Dubai has grown exponentially since its inception,” said Ram Krishna, Administrator in the Education Division of Al Mazroui, “as a founding sponsor, we have witnessed and also benefitted from the many advances made by the show. GESS has helped us to connect with educational institutions in the MENA region, serving as the platform to transfer the latest innovative educational products and ideas to educators.”

Ram noted that GESS also served as the medium of attraction for other Arabic/African countries during the exhibitions.

“This has increased our clientele and offered recognition for Al Mazroui Medical & Chemical Supplies, as a leading contender in the ever-growing Educational Market in the MENA and surrounding countries,” he concluded.

Finland has been at the top of the global education spectrum when it comes to getting impressive results. Their teaching methods have been highly lauded and considered as progressive. This year, for the first time, attendees will get to check out some of the education resources that help to make the Finnish education system great. The event will showcase a new pavilion, Explore Finland, which will feature a roster of new start-up companies.
