Mrs Emma Shanahan has worked in education for almost 30 years, starting as a primary school teacher in London. A graduate of the University of Durham, Emma loves to learn! She was awarded NPQH (National Professional Headship Qualification) in 2013, received an MA (ed)(distinction) from Liverpool Hope University in 2016, completed her 200hr YTT and is a qualified yoga teacher. She is currently finishing a Masters level Executive coaching qualification with the Institute of Leadership and Management.
She has held strategic leadership roles in high performing schools both in the UK and internationally, with significant Middle-East regional experience. The impact of Emma’s leadership is regional, and externally validated with a recent BSO inspection team noting - The founding principal of the school is the catalyst for progress at the school. Her passion and ambition are clear to see, and she is able to utilise these to inspire and motivate the staff.
Organised, creative and kind, Emma has exceptionally high expectations of herself and others. She is experienced in establishing and facilitating processes for personal and organisational continuous evaluation and improvement, exemplified by the high retention rate of teaching colleagues and professional growth within the school.
Emma's philosophy of education is centred around building positive relationships with the entire school community, and innovative, engaging and effective teaching and learning.
